This shoot took place in Blackham, at Tom's house after the weather prevented us from filming at Grosvenor park.
What was your role during the shoot?
- My role in the shoot was, like the last, primarily acting.
- In this shoot I was required to lip sync certain parts of the track so we could input them later in post production.
Which shots were less successful or problematic? Why was this?
- There were many shots that proved problematic. For example, the shots we took in the cinema were very challenging as we were relying on the light from the television to capture the shot which was not ideal. We also found that the shot was not up to the standard and overall theme we desired when viewing it in post production so we ultimately decided to exclude it.
- Another series of shots that proved difficult were the shots taken through the glass door. I was standing outside attempting to lip sync with the song playing through Harry's phone, however Tom was indoors filming, meaning the camera movements were not synchronised with the song itself.
What other challenges did you encounter and how did you respond to them?
- The main challenge that we faced that day was the weather. We had originally planned to shoot in Grosvenor park, but due to the rain we were forced to improvise the indoor location of Tom's house in order to not put any of the equipment (the camera in particular) at risk of damage. Despite this, we managed to capture some footage that we were unable to obtain on the first shoot. With the help of the storyboards we managed to film the entire first 20-30 seconds of the music video, and the dreary weather contributed to the sombre mood.
How did you develop your ideas for the digipak and advert on the shoot?
- Since we were aiming to film at Grosvenor on this shoot, we had planned for digipak stills that we couldn't capture due to the weather, so were again, forced to improvise. Some visually impressive stills that we captured were mainly of objects such as headphones on an ambient floor surrounded by white walls. Since the room at Tom's (where the image was taken) was empty, we captured a similar theme evident in Jack Garratt's 'Remnants' album cover, which sees a man sitting on an empty floor covered in few objects.
