Group: Pitch- Audience Feedback

What was effective in terms of pitch and presentation? What would you improve?

We believe the way we presented the pitch was done well, using a script proved effective in giving the pitch a strong flow and matched all visual evidence used well, the prezi presentation was easy to navigate through and understand for the audience. In terms of improvement, the layout of the prezi could have been more aesthetically pleasing with more visual evidence, in particular videos as there was only one used in the pitch.

What are the strengths of our concept?

The main strength shown was the link between our narrative and lyrics, people thought our plot fitted well and would reflect the emotions of the lyrics effectively. Also, the treatment was seen as strong in terms of our shot ideas and specifics, such as some of our storyboarded frames. Our Digipak and Advert mock-up ideas were seen as well designed and well linked to the artist and the themes for our planned music video. Others thought we had a good use of props to tell the story line and a detailed break down of lyrics and shots.

What are the areas for development?

In order for our concept to progress we should take further location reccies to help the music video remain interesting with a focused viewing. Some people thought that links between the artist, the narrative and the video were required for improvements. Moreover, the narrative of our video must be more well described and with needs more detail to fit the length of the song, something we can plan and achieve through storyboarding.

What are the key areas which need to be tested on our target audience?

It is clear that the strength of our narrative needs to be tested on the target audience, to ensure our ideas are realistic and will be powerful enough to fit the feeling of the song. Furthermore, we will need to test if some of the locations we will use in the video will be effective and interesting enough for the audience, such as the park location. We must also test whether the audience think our ideas of using grayscale filters throughout the video will work/ make the video more or less effective.

What ideas do we have for storyboarding?

For the starting 1-1:30 minutes of our song we have many shot ideas as the events that happen in this section we have thought of extensively, therefore the starting third or half of the song we can storyboard quite simply, it is the events after this section that we will need more ideas for as it is more unclear at this time. The ideas we have include various close-ups of our character showing his current feelings and of props as visual signifiers, furthermore there will be slow zoom shots used during an argument between argument and son, framing the sons face with the slow zoom in to emphasize how he is our protagonist. During this same scene we will use over-the-shoulder shots and handicam shots to reflect the commotion and disorder.
