Mark Ronson- Daffodils
- Genre is funk/electronic, giving genre conventions as the song is upbeat and a retro style look, like props such as bass guitars, the majority of non-verbal language in the music video would probably be dancing- often in a group not just a solo dancer.
- Edits could be added to give the music video colorful and simultaneously with the beat of the song, lighting could be provided from a disco ball, another common feature in funky, dance songs.
- However the unconventional part of the song is the absence of lyrics, meaning the narrative of the music video has more possibilities as the lyrics in a song often determine its visual story.
Jamie XX- Stranger In A Room
- Beat is slightly slower and lighter, gives conventions of slow motion shots, lyrics could be used to create narrative, video could switch between a singer and another narrative the lyrics are telling.
- I’d imagine lots of the shots to be quite dark, perhaps given a black and white filter with only glimpses of colour and moving coloured lights on the singer.
- Narrative I would imagine to be based about a couple, a man and woman.
Slaves- Sockets
- Rock genre, beat is fast and loud- gives ideas of video being filmed with frequent handicam shots to give a lively, rebellious look, band and instruments could be used as is frequent with most rock songs that feature the band in the video, darkness of the song suggests a more serious or rebellious narrative with a lot of action.
- I would visualize the video to be a mix between a performance by the band (Slaves) as well as young adult men perhaps causing trouble or doing something iconic of youth e.g. going to a party, perhaps with a black and white filter over visuals.
good work Tom
