HG- Inspirational Music Videos

Want to Want Me- Jason Derulo

 - This music video is essentially stating that someone can have anything they want in the world but if they don't have that one thing they need, then nothing else matters. This may be relatable for Jason Derulo's fans and therefore compliments Dyer's ordinary yet extraordinary paradox.

- The meaning of the music video is shown via intercutting throughout between the artist and the girl he wants intimating that she is always on his mind. This is also shown when it cuts back to him sleeping at the end connoting that the action between the pair in the middle of the video was merely a dream.

- The lighting is low-key throughout, however, there are occasional bright lighting effects used when he pictures the girl which intimates his admiration for her.

Troublemaker-Olly Murs

   - This particular music video is very upbeat and quirky which is shown by the fast cutting rate. The video is obtrusively about him having a crush on a girl who he keeps seeing throughout, however she is very much a troublemaker.

- Similar to the video above, there is evidence of intercutting between the artist himself and the girl he wants. As well as this. in post production the producers have incorporated a split screen effect to show what the artist is thinking about, which is a very effective technique.

- Natural lighting is used throughout the video and is set in the daytime, which contrasts to the Jason Derulo video.

  Usher- Climax
  - This video adopts low key lighting which is used to reflect the dark mood of the song, which is about the climax of love, where it can go either way.

- It continuously cuts back to the artist performing the song in a very blank, plain space. However, this is very effective as usher can therefore convey his passion and get across the meaning of the song to his audience.

- Relating this video to Dyer's theory, there is a large distinction between pop star and pop performer, and in the case (for the majority of the song) the artist is a pop performer.
